Wilco Prinsen creates hypnotic, instrumental electronic music at the intersection of electronica, indie, and ambient, with influences from kraut, leftfield techno, and IDM. His gritty, organic sound originated in a world of guitars, analog pedals, and tube amplifiers. In search of more freedom, wonder, and a new sonic palette, the guitar has given way to a modular synthesizer. His productions and live performances are characterized by refined melodies and layered compositions, leaving ample room for improvisation: both the live arrangement of all melodic layers and the manipulation of his modular synth’s sound ensure that his tracks are brought to life in new ways each time.

‘Inter // Esse’ is based on live and studio recordings from 2017–2025, documenting Prinsen’s transformation from indie guitarist to pioneer in live electronic music. The six tracks reflect his quest for freedom in sound and composition, with a focus on the tension between structure and improvisation. The EP is a tribute to live energy: finding a balance between taming and preserving raw spontaneity, with gritty, noisy textures that reference his past as a guitarist.
