Join us on Remembrance Day for a Film Screening and Discussion on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) Crisis in North America.
Doors Open: 18:00
Film Starts: 18:30 (Runtime: 70 minutes + post-film discussion)
Following the screening, Indigenous scholar Skylar Joseph will lead a discussion on the ongoing MMIW crisis. As part of this conversation, we will observe the national moment of silence, using this time to remember not only civilians lost in war, but also those taken by the quiet genocides that continue around the world.
In Canada, Indigenous women are 6 times more likely to be murdered than the general population.
In the U.S., they are 10 times more likely.
Over 4,200 MMIW cases in the U.S. remain unsolved.
Each of these women is Somebody's Daughter, sister, mother, or friend. Every one of them deserves justice, remembrance, and closure.
While May 4th is National Remembrance Day in the Netherlands, May 5th is MMIW Remembrance Day in North America. Let us come together in solidarity and reflection to honor the lives lost across borders and histories.
