Cinéma Dérive: La Luna
Open: 21:00 - 23:30 hrs

Each Tuesday during the summer, Jeffrey curates and hosts a special free screening at Cinema of the Dam'd. Tonight he presents Bertolucci's controversial 1979 drama La Luna.

Famous opera singer Caterina (Jill Clayburgh) is an emotional wreck in the wake of her husband's death. She turns to her teenage son Joe (Matthew Barry) for comfort, but discovers that he has a heroin addiction. While on tour together in Rome, Caterina tries to help Joe kick the habit, and initiates an incestuous relationship with him. Bernardo Bertolucci's controversial drama is an oddball journey into taboo territory. Lensed by Vittorio Storaro (Apocalypse Now), it is also one of the director's most lushly photographed films, with several absolutely stunning set pieces. Featuring two eccentric performances, and an eclectic soundtrack, composed by Ennio Morricone mixing disco, opera and strings, La Luna is a strange, sensual viewing experience.

Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, 1979, Italy, 142 minutes. High definition screening in English w/ English subtitles.

Bar opens @ 20:00.
Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
